Sergeant Major Rodriguez was born in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. He graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, on March 6, 1992. Upon graduation, he attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Upon completion of MCT, he reported to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma for MOS training as a Cannon Crewman. After completion of Field Artillery School, he was ordered to Lima Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan.
In September 1994, SgtMaj Rodriguez was reassigned to Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California. In September 1995, SgtMaj Rodriguez deployed on a WESTPAC with Battalion Landing Team 3/1. During the deployment with the BLT, SgtMaj Rodriguez participated in Operation Desert Storm, Kuwait Cease Fire and Operation United Shield/Restore Hope II in Somalia. In June of 1995, SgtMaj Rodriguez was reassigned to Lima Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines, Okinawa, Japan as a Section Chief. While assigned to Lima Battery, SgtMaj Rodriguez deployed to Yatsubetsu, Japan and Australia for Exercise "Tandem Thrust". During this period, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
In September 1997, SgtMaj Rodriguez was reassigned to Fox Battery, 2nd Battalion, 10th Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as a Section Chief and Guns Platoon Sergeant. During this period, SgtMaj Rodriguez was deployed with BLT 1/6 and BLT 2/6 to the Mediterranean. While deployed with the BLTs, SgtMaj Rodriguez participated in Operation Dynamic response in Kosovo; Operation Noble Shirley in Israel; and Operation Dynamic Mix in Greece. During this period, SgtMaj Rodriguez was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In September 2001, SgtMaj Rodriguez was assigned to attend Drill Instructor School at Parris Island, South Carolina. After completion of Drill Instructor School, SgtMaj Rodriguez was assigned to Mike Company, 3rd RTBN, where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Series Gunnery Sergeant. During this period, SgtMaj Rodriguez was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in 2003.
In January 2004, SgtMaj Rodriguez reported to 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii where he served as Battery Gunnery Sergeant for Headquarters and Service Battery and Charlie Battery. While assigned as the Battery Gunnery Sergeant he deployed to Thailand for Exercise Cobra Gold and Okinawa as part of the Unit Deployment Program. In June 2006, SgtMaj Rodriguez was promoted to First Sergeant and assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. In March 2007, SgtMaj Rodriguez deployed to the Haditha Triad in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08.
In January 2008, SgtMaj Rodriguez reported to Echo Company, 2nd RTBN, MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina for duty as the Company First Sergeant. SgtMaj Rodriguez completed 4 cycles as a Company First Sergeant. In June 2009, SgtMaj Rodriguez was appointed as the First Sergeant of Drill Instructor School, MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina until June 2010. In August 2010, SgtMaj Rodriguez attended the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 61) at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. In July 2011, he was promoted and assigned as the SgtMaj for 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, 29 Palms, California where he deployed to Sangin, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 11-2 and 13-2. In August 2014, SgtMaj Rodriguez was assigned as the Regimental Sergeant Major for Headquarters Regiment, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, California and in January 2017, SgtMaj Rodriguez was assigned as the SgtMaj for Marine Corps Recruit Depot / Eastern Recruiting Region, Parris Island, South Carolina.
In January 2019, SgtMaj Rodriguez assumed his current billet as Marine Forces Special Operations Command's Sergeant Major.
SgtMaj Rodriguez' personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal w/2 gold star in lieu of 3rd award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ 3 gold stars in lieu of 4th award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/ gold star in lieu of 2nd award and the Combat Action Ribbon w/ gold star in lieu of 2nd award. SgtMaj Rodriguez is married to Sheila Rodriguez. They have two children: Elijah (15) and Jesenia (11).
