Master Gunnery Sergeant (MGySgt) Chancey Stanley is a native of Albany, GA, and grew up in the Tampa Bay area of Florida before enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1997. He is a Marine Raider with 26 years of active-duty experience in the Marine Corps, 19 of which have been in special operations. Before the Marine Special Operations Command's (MARSOC) creation in 2006, MGySgt Stanley spent time in the 1st and 2nd Marine Reconnaissance Battalions as a Radio Operator and Team Leader.
During his time in MARSOC, MGySgt Stanley has held leadership positions at the team, company, and battalion levels and deployed to multiple countries across the Middle East, North Africa, and the Pacific theater.
In early 2025, he returned from a deployment to the Philippines, serving as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) for Special Operations Task Force (SOTF) - PHL in Manila. MGySgt Stanley's notable billets include the Marine Special Operations School's Assessment & Selection Phase I Chief Instructor, two tours as Team Chief with 3rd Marine Raider Battalion, the SOTF-North Operations Sergeant Major in Erbil, Iraq, Hotel Company Senior Enlisted Advisor (SEA), and the SOFSEA for 1st Marine Raider Battalion. MGySgt Stanley also spent three years outside MARSOC in the Joint Special Operations University's Enlisted Academy, where he served as a Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Advisor Course instructor, the Chief of Academics, and the Deputy Commandant. MGySgt Stanley most recently served as the senior enlisted leader at MARSOC's Marine Raider Training Center in Camp Lejeune, NC.
MGySgt Stanley earned a B.S. in Organizational Leadership from the University of Charleston, WV, in 2020 and an M.S. in Strategic Intelligence with a concentration in special operations from the National Intelligence University in 2024.
