Biography

Command Master Chief
Master Chief John I. Leasiolagi

Master Chief Leasiolagi was born in Faga’alu, American Samoa before relocating to Hyattsville, Maryland with his family, where he attended elementary, middle, and high school. He enlisted in the United States Navy on 12 June 2006 and graduated from Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes in August 2006 with follow on orders to attend Naval Hospital Corps School.

From August 2006 to March 2007 Master Chief Leasiolagi attended Naval Hospital Corps School and Field Medical Service School. While a student at Field Medical Service School he screened and was subsequently accepted into the Fleet Marine Force Reconnaissance Corpsman training pipeline. Upon graduation from Field Medical Service School Master Chief Leasiolagi checked in to the Reconnaissance Indoctrination Platoon at 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion.

From March 2007 through August 2014 Master Chief Leasiolagi served as a Fleet Marine Force Reconnaissance Corpsman at 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, deploying with Alpha Company in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and as a member of the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response.

In August 2014 Master Chief Leasiolagi reported to Golf Company, 2nd Marine Raider Battalion and deployed twice in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. In 2019 Master Chief Leasiolagi was selected to serve as the Navy Senior Enlisted Advisor, Marine Raider Regiment and deployed twice as a member of the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force staff.

From July 2021 through November 2023 Master Chief Leasiolagi served at the Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center aboard Ft. Liberty North Carolina as the Operations Chief and Navy Senior Enlisted Leader. In November 2023 he was selected as the Command Master Chief, Marine Forces Special Operations Command where he is currently serving.

Master Chief Leasiolagi is a graduate of the Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy, the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Management from Southern Illinois University. His decorations include two Bronze Stars, a Meritorious Service Medal, and two Combat Action Ribbons.
